About Cordell
I have been a professional and competitive Ballroom and Latin American dancer for over 30 years. I first learnt to dance at a local School of Dancing in Ramsgate where I reached the highest standard in technical assessment of Ballroom and Latin.
During my competitive years, I was a member of the British team and ranked in the top 12 dancers in the UK. I also reached the top 30 in the International Championships where the world’s best dancers competed at the Royal Albert Hall. During this time I was an active member of the British Training Squad, in which I led the creative development of the team’s competitive routines and fitness regime.
I represented the UK in competitions up and down the country. I regularly danced at Blackpool and all over Europe between 1985-1988. At the end of 1988 I turned professional, giving up competitions in order to start a successful dance school in West London. It was there that I taught both adults and children up to Gold Star Level, assessed by the ISDT.
After a ten year break to have and raise children I became a fully qualified fitness instructor with a focus on teaching exercise-to-music classes. This included a very popular partner free exercise class called Ballroom Fitness.
